- David K. Padgett, D.O. was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland.
- In 1984, he graduated from the original osteopathic medical college, Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine, located in Missouri.
- After completing his internship in Phoenix, Arizona, Dr. Padgett began his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Stanford University, where he trained to be a physiatrist.
- Upon graduating from Stanford in 1988, Dr. Padgett completed a four-year tour of active duty with the United States Navy at the U.S. Naval Hospital in Oakland, CA.
- His first private practice position began in 1992 as Medical Director of the Contra Costa Rehabilitation Center within Los Medanos Hospital in Pittsburg, CA. Since then, Dr. Padgett has held several Medical Director positions for noteworthy rehabilitation programs.
- In 1994, Dr. Padgett moved to Montgomery, Alabama to accept the position of Medical Director for the 80-bed, free-standing Healthsouth Rehabilitation Hospital.
- Missing California, Dr. Padgett returned to the San Francisco Bay Area in 1997 to accept the position of Associate Chief in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center in San Jose. At SCVMC, Dr. Padgett was the Director of the Pain Management Program and was presented with the James D. Thompson, M.D. Humanitarian Award for patient care.
- In 1998, Dr. Padgett yearned to return to private practice and accepted a Medical Director position at San Ramon Rehabilitation Hospital located in San Ramon, California. He established his outpatient practice in the area as well and has been practicing in his current office location since April, 2014.
- In 2005, Dr. Padgett joined a team of physicians at the nationally recognized Health Education for Living with Pain Program (HELP) in San Mateo.
- Dr. Padgett joined the Rehabilitation Services Physician team at John Muir Medical Center in 2011, holding the role of Medical Director of Rehabilitation Services from 2013 to 2016.
Other Interesting Accomplishments
- Former President of the American Osteopathic College of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He also has been on the executive boards of the California and Alabama Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation State Societies.
- Regularly maintains expertise through continuing medical education courses.
