Frequently Asked Questions
Dr. Padgett does not accept my insurance. Can I still be his patient?
Yes, for private insurers. You will be asked to pay for your services in full with cash or credit card. Many insurance companies will reimburse you at least in part for medical care that you pay for out-of-pocket (please refer to the details of your health insurance plan.) We are happy to supply copies of billing sheets and payment receipts for you to use in your reimbursement request.
Do I need to have a referral to see Dr. Padgett?
This depends on what type of insurance you are planning on using. PPO patients typically do not need a referral. HMO patients must be referred to us and we cannot schedule your first appointment until a written referral has been either mailed or faxed to our office. You will need to confirm with your referring physician's office that this written referral has been sent to our office before you can schedule an initial appointment. We will also call you as soon as we receive the referral. Please refer back to insurance plans accepted by Dr. Padgett or call us to double check.
What do I need to do to set up an appointment with Dr. Padgett as a Workers' Compensation patient?
In order to review your case and schedule an appointment, we need to have written authorization (mailed or FAXed) from your adjuster. Then we will expect medical records from your WC carrier that provides a summary of your injury and historical treatment. We will call you as soon as Dr. Padgett has received and reviewed this documentation.
Will Dr. Padgett write me a prescription for narcotic pain medications after our initial meeting?
No. It is Dr. Padgett's policy to never prescribe pain medications during the initial new patient appointment. He will evaluate your situation and develop a treatment plan that will meet your medical needs.
What types of payment does Dr. Padgett's office accept?
Dr. Padgett accepts credit and debit cards (Visa and MasterCard) as well as cash. He does not accept personal checks. Please always be prepared to pay your co-pay or office visit fee in our office before your appointment in order to avoid late fees.
